I’ve been gone for too long with no worthy explanation, I apologize and I promise to do better. This year is going to be mighty different in so many ways and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you. I’m going to share a few of my plans for the new year, feel free to share yours with me as well!
This year, I plan to:
set SMART(Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic & Timely) goals.
do a lot of meditation and self-reflection.
make budgets and save as much as possible. (Check out Shalvah’s blog for tips)
read more books.
consciously work on my mental health.
season my conversations and affiliations with kindness, sensitivity & love.
eat healthier and exercise more frequently.
Be Creative. Laugh Out Loud and Often. Make Your Heart Sing.
Envision Greatness and Work at It.
Seize Every Opportunity.
Don’t Wait for Tomorrow. Today is the Day.
Take life easy and enjoy every bit of what 2018 brings your way 🌸
I find that sometimes we go through life without consciously taking stock of our current state or even evaluating how far we’ve come. I for one am guilty of this, so I’m doing a simple and fun self appraisal. I got this idea from my friend, Tola’s blog.
I am currently;
Making– important life changing decisions that I don’t feel ready for.
Cooking– nothing. I’ve been too busy to whip up anything although this blog has a food segment. As much as I hate eating out, that’s mainly what I’ve been doing. I apologize to my fellow foodies.
Drinking– lots & lots of coffee. Coffee is slowly replacing tea (can’t believe I said that).
Reading– ‘The fishermen.’ One of my mentors reviewed the book on his YouTube channel and a friend of mine loaned me hers.
Wanting– a vacation to one of those ‘instagramable’ islands.
Liking– my major more and more as the days go by.
Playing– candy crush.
Praying– about everything that crosses my mind especially if it lingers for too long. Praying specifically for direction. Jer 33:3
Deciding– to take life slowly because there’s no rush.
Wishing– that wishes were real then proceeding to make a wish for at least 3 more wishes.
Enjoying– all that God has blessed me with. Absolutely no regrets or complaints.
Waiting– for the time in my life where I won’t need to check the price tag on something that I like.
Wondering– why the fundamentals of adulting aren’t taught in schools!
Listening– to nothing in particular.
Hoping– that everything would work out for my good.
Needing– a car!
Thinking– a little too much.
Knowing– and reminding myself daily that God will fulfil his promises to me because He is true to his word!
Disliking– the rain in Vancouver but loving fall.
Feeling– hopeful and positive about my future!
Celebrating– life (in good health), family and friends.
Embracing– myself, literally.
Learning– to be bold and unapologetic about my feelings. Learning to prioritize my mental health and deflect any and everything that could cause me discomfort.
Why do we think the way we do? Why are we drawn to certain things? It’s not a coincidence that certain things seem to grab our attention repeatedly, at different times and in various forms. Most times, the things we are drawn to go a long way in defining who we are.
Pay attention to the things that make you take a second look.
The minute details of our lives like our favourite colours, preferred flowers & scents, sweet/savoury/sour foods are all building blocks that make up our persona. Dig deep, learn to brainstorm, meditate, don’t be afraid to talk to yourself if necessary. It all balls down to getting to know and understand yourself.
Pay attention to yourself because you are important.
Being the rookie that I am, I accidentally deleted the pictures from my previous posts while putting this post together and I was devastated. I couldn’t stop crying and I immediately decided against publishing this weeks post because I hadn’t enough time to fix the mess. I’m very thankful for my best friends that encouraged me to release todays post! The two most important lessons I learnt from this is to avoid leaving things till the last-minute and to see the silver lining in every frustrating situation because it could have been worse. Just be happy!
A few reasons to be happy
Happy people lead the best and most productive lives.
The world would be a better place if people were more joyful; It starts with you.
You are alive; whether in perfect, average or below average health.
The tough situation you might be in can never kill, it will only shape and strengthen you.
Your life could dramatically change for the better at a moments notice.
You are loved, most especially by Jesus.
Prov 15:13 – A heart full of joy and goodness makes a cheerful face, But when a heart is full of sadness the spirit is crushed
I was heading to school last week Thursday, sadly I missed my bus by just 1 minute but I wasn’t bothered because the next one was scheduled to depart 15 minutes from then… “I will get to class in time,” I thought to myself. The next bus came well over 30 minutes after the scheduled departure time, and I was over 1 hour late to class. All the passengers were very upset, but there was nothing we could have done about it. While standing on the queue waiting for the bus, I thought about what the worlds reaction would be if the rapture were to happen right there. Everyone looked so busy and in such a hurry, myself included. At that point I realized that the return of Jesus had not crossed my mind in days, if not weeks. I believe my bus delay was a way to slow me down and get me thinking. When Jesus returns, may we not be taken by surprise.
Have a wonderful week and please subscribe to the blog if you haven’t already 🌸
